How do you fix patchy permanent hair color?

I dyed my dark brown hair to black (at home with permanent dye), but the problem is the dye only held at my roots and the bottom half of my hair. The middle part is still dark brown. Anyone know how to get the middle of my hair to match the rest?How do you fix patchy permanent hair color?

Well the best solution is to go to a salon and just have them fix it. Other wise it will never look right.

Just go to stylist.
you can just redye the whole thing.. since your going darker it wont be too damaging, and it should even it out... or just strip the color out which is like death to your hair
Buy another boxs of hair dye ,the same color that you used,put it on all over your hair,the darkest wont get any darker,but will grab onto the hair that didnt grabb onto the color
Go to a salon, and have a professional fix it. Its usually a little expensive, but you will receive the best results that way.
