How do I keep from my hair color from fading?

So I dyed my hair like three months ago and it's faded to a dirty blond. And i mean it was really dark and it started faded the first week. and it's been the blondish color for two months.

So what are some tips for me that i can do so when I dye my hair the color won't fade? How do I keep from my hair color from fading?
it could be the person you went to. next time ask them to use a very perminent color.

also they make color saving shampoo and conditioner.

also, one of the first answers said to wash your hair every three days, and that may help the color, but your hair will get dirty, unkempt, and greasy.

Use one of the shampoos made for brunettes, and wash your hair in the coldest water you can stand. Just like cold water tightens the pores of your skin, cold tightens the cuticle of the hair and helps seal in the color molecules. And only wash your hair when it's really needing a shampoo, not every day if you can help it. Air dry instead of blowdrying.
Use a shampoo that is sulfate free (Kenra makes a platinum line).\

Also before you blow dry hair use a protectant serum.

And don't expose your hair to the sunlight for a long period of time. Don't wash your hair for at least 12 hours before you color it.

If you are dying your hair yourself, when rinsing the color out use cool water so that the hair follicle will not open as much and release the color.

Some fading must be expected, so try going a shade darker than you really want and when the fading occurs it will still be close to the color you were aiming for. Good luck!
well, if you use a better quality dye, maybe it won't fade? I've never had that happen...if you are dying it yourself, try Revlon Colorsilk or Feria, because I've had good results with that. Also, if you buy the John Frieda Color Glaze in Dark brown and apply it to the hair once a week, it will help the color stay dark (i use it to dye my roots when they grow in too fast and I don't want to redye so fast). Good luck!
If you get it done professionally you can ask the stylist to put some clear color on it like a toner. This will make it shinier and the color will fade less quickly because the clear color molecules will sit on top, and fall of first. You can probably get some at sally's beauty supply also.
If your doing the dyeing at home make sure the dye you buy hair dye that is permanent.

Also be sure to be shampoo for colour-treated hair.

and when washing your hair don't use hot water.

use luke warm or cold water to keep your cuticle stay shut and prevent the colour from fading.
if you color your hair yourself, i recommend not doing it at all and just going to a salon. drugstore dyes are usually really weak and fade out after the first wash.

so i say go to a salon. also, you can use shampoo/conditioner that locks color in and prevents fading. i know garnier fructis makes a line to lock in hair color. i have it and i really like it. hope this helps! :)
When you wash your hair, make sure you don't use really hot water. Warm to Cold water is the best,

Use a shampoo that mentions somewhere on it that its good for ';chemically treated hair';

Oh also, occasionally put a little lemon juice in your hair and let it sit before you wash it out
1. dont wash as often

2. Use hot oil (sold at target walmart etc) these are oils that you rub into ur hair costs about $4 for 4 vials

3. Use conditioner

4 protect ur hair before hair drying with a leave in protectant like nutrise has them citre shine pantene has them too

5.use a large brush with wide bristles that are soft tipped

6. get a trim every month for split ends

7. use the root dye dont dye all ur hair every month this really dries out hair
I'd get some of that coloring enhancing conditioner, I use it, it's specifically for dyed hair and it's supposed to slow the color from fading.
Choose shampoo that is for color-treated hair, and don't wash everyday. Did you use a permanent dye or a semi-permanent, which will eventually wash out?
Buy shampoo/conditioner for colored hair. It strips less color than normal shampoo's/conditioners.

Leave in products to help enhance your color.

Avoiding products that use alcohol.

Avoid direct sunlight as sun bleach's hair.
there's a transparent color hair coloring... i used it to protect my red hair and it will stay there for at least 3 monts no matter how often you wash your hair.. apply it after you dyed your hair with the color you want
well the less you was your hair the better eww i know but you wanted to know also use cold water when you shower and avoid pools you can also buy a special shampoo
Go to a hairdresser .. They will recomend a hair product or shampoo that will stop this from happening .. Also supermakets do sell conditioners that keeps your colour in .
make sure your shampoo if safe for color treated hair.

Buy specially color treated shampoo and conditioner. Also, you should wash your hair every other day in COLD water. This should do the trick!
Use deep conditioner on your hair, and take care of it.

Healthier hair holds color better and longer
lots of anti oxidant food and vitamins

red wine and green tea i believe are the best natural sources
Wash your hair every 3 days. Or not as much! It might be gross but its worth it
