You can do it immediately. Just use LOTS of conditioner and dont do this very often at all. What do you think they do at beauty shops to give highlights? They apply the very harsh blonde to strip the color, then apply the color you wish to have in your hair. Its very very VERY rough on your hair but with lots of conditioner, itll be ok. Just dont make this a habit or you will most definately lose your hair.
6 weeks and make sure until then you use moisturizer and a hot oil treatment to help with conditioning.

when your roots start becoming really noticeable go and do it then so you HAVE to do it agian
