I got blond highlights at Hair Cuttery about 1 year ago. Since then my hair has really grown. I only have the top of my head highlighted. I'm going to get my friend to color my hair. Any tips for coloring it? What will cover the blond? Should I buy permanent? I don' t want the hair color to fade. I want to color my whole head dark brown.I have a question about what hair color I should by to cover permanent blond highlights?
You should probably not let your friend do it unless she's a hairdresser.
When dying light hair a darker color, you need to fill it first so the color will ';hold'; onto the hair.
And also it will make your color richer. If you don't fill it first, you're going to get a muddy color and it's not going to be as nice as it would be if you filled it.
A filler is a red color, which is needed for a nice brown color. They put it on the hair first, and then will apply the brown dye.
If you do decide to just let your friend do it, it WILL go darker, but expect it to fade quicker and not be a perfect rich color.
And you're saying you don't want it to fade...it will. Darker hair always fades unless you go black, and even then it does fade a little bit. To upkeep dark hair, buy a brunette shampoo or a brunette glaze to help keep your color looking just as fresh as when you first get it done.
Hope that helps.
