What color are you getting done? Red colors tend to fade the fastest. Best advice on how to keep your locks from fading? Wash every other day, and use a color protectant shampoo. You can find them at salons, as well as your local store that you buy your other toiletries at. Also, when you go outside in the sun, protect your hair with a stylish hat. Sun also helps aide in the fading process. What can I do to make hair color last longer?
Are you coloring it yourself or going to a salon?
If you go to a salon ask them for shampoo that is for colored hair, they should have good recommendations which will vary depending on your hair color.
Don't wash it for atleast 48 hours after getting it colored.
Don't use conditioner every day-only use it maybe every other time you wash it.
If you're going to a salon and it's washing out after a few DAYS there's a problem, tell them and if they make excuses or refuse to do a free touchup, find somewhere else to go.
Hope that helps
you can always have a glaze put on over your color. a glaze is a clear coat that helps lock color in, and give the hair shine. they're also usually very conditioning to the hair. check what products you using. if you're using a product with a heavy wax content in it (like pantene and main and tail) it can make it hard for your color to penetrate and stay true. begin using shampoos and conditioners that are designed to hold color in. good ones are:
matrix colorsmart
matrix biolage color care
redkin for color treated
halo for color treated
sexy hair, healthy sexy hair colorsafe
stay away from clarifying and volumizing shampoos. these are designed to lift things out of the hair, including color
Color your hair at a hair salon, and use high quality special hair care products for colored hair.
