go to sally beauty supply and talk to the people there. i have usually found them to be knowledgeable enough for my purposes and they have a fairly wide selection of products as compared with your average grocery or box store.





i would also advise you to look into natural/ eco friendly hair dyes, because they tent to be more gentle on your hair in the long run- you're much less likely to have breaking hair because of these dyes than chemicals that you can't even pronounce... i've found that eco dyes also minimize the long-term damage and dryness of my hair as well.
