Hi everyone. I bought the color and developer from Sally and am ready to mix it in a 1:1 ratio. Both are liquid-based (not gel or creme). This is the first time I've ever used something NOT from a box (where it comes with the bottle and stuff). I'm about to mix it and am going to apply it with a tint brush. Just in case the consistency is too runny, is there a household product I can use to thicken it? If anyone knows from experience, I'd be very appreciative. Thanks! Can hair color be thickened to make it easier to apply?
Absolutely not. Do not add anything to the dye to change the consistancy. I too hate runny color but the best way to deal with this is put it in an applicator bottle and do it the same way you do over the counter hair colors. You bought your supplies at sally and they also sell applicator bottles.
Put a towel on your shoulders and spread newspapers on the floor if you must. I have to do that. Run a line of vaseling around your ears and forehead to prevent drips and runs. I use a big hair clip and a plastic grocery bag to cover my head when im done so i dont slop. I have long hair and tend to drip and splatter a lot.
Keep in mind that professional products were designed for one person to apply to another persons head. Not for self home application.
Good Luck
