How do you make your hair color last longer?

I have blonde highlights and they always fade so quick after I get them done. I use Matrix shampoo made for dyed hair, but it still seems to fade no matter what shampoo I use. Any ideas of what I should do to stop the fading or make my highlights brighter?How do you make your hair color last longer?
I have a glaze added to my hair after my hair stylist finishes putting in the highlights. This helps brighten the color and it seems to last a bit longer. Your shampoo sounds fine, though you might want to also try a 'brightening' shampoo.

Blow drying is one of the worst things you can do to coloured hair, try any products that have silicone in them it will act as a sealer and a heat protector for when you blow dry try to let hair dry naturally and only use a blow dryer twice a week. your hair will thank you for it.
use a shampoo and conditioner that say for colored and treated hair it will last a good 2-3 months longer
hey Kesley ... its great you are using a professional shampoo and conditioner. You may need to get the matrix shampoo and conditioner for blonding highlights. Its a purple colored shampoo. It brightens blonde highlights. Also I recommend after any coloring not to use as much hot water as you would normally when shampooing your hair. Hot water opens the cuticle and your color will run out faster especially if a demi permenant was used for coloring. They only last up to 6 weeks because they only deposit color not lift like permanent color dyes.
