Is wash out hair color an option to go from the darkest brown to a redish brown?

I have african american hair and it is chemically treated with a relaxer. I want to take it to a lighter shade of brown, with some hints of red in it. Any suggestions?Is wash out hair color an option to go from the darkest brown to a redish brown?
A temporary hair colour (washes out in next shampoo) can only ADD some colour to what you already have. If you have dark hair, anything you add to it is still going to be dark hair. You cannot make anything lighter with a temporary colour. You cannot make anything lighter using a semi-permanent colour either.





The only thing that will make it lighter is a bleach by whatever name you want to call it. You need to remove colour pigments from the hair. All permanent tints contain bleach to remove colour, and then it adds colour molecules. So any tint will work quite well. It is a permanent change -- you cannot remove the tint and go back to your own colour.
