Other then the price... I know it's expensive at the salon, is it really worth it though? I've done it at home before, but it never lasts that long, and I have some few stubborn grays (I'm only 28!!!) in the front that just won't go away.
Is it worth paying the high price to get it colored at a salon? What does it typically run to do this?
Any suggestions? What's the difference between home hair color, and getting it done at the salon?
I think it is worth the money to go to a salon to get your hair colored. There are a lot of processes/steps when it comes to coloring hair that a box just can't do. That's why you see girls with yellow hair and not blonde or girls with greenish/muddy brown instead of a pretty brown. Like my stylist always says, you kinda have to be a chemist to get the right mix of color. for example i just went from bleach blonde to dark brown and it took 2 steps, first she had to do a wash of brown to get my yellow/golden/red tones back into my hair since it was such a light blonde and then she did the actual color. I think it's best to leave somethings to professionals
The price depends on what you are doing, it's really expensive to be a blonde, especially if you are darker naturally because there is so much lifiting they have to do and then all the upkeep gets very expensive. to go from the bleach blonde to dark brown, the price to dye all my hair the brown was only $10 more than just getting my roots bleached. Highlights/foils/lots of different colors tend to get expensive too.
I hope this helps!
What's the difference between home hair color, and getting it done at the salon?
Depends on what you get done, but you can get hair colored in a salon for as low as $30, without highlights added.
If you simply cannot seem to get rid of gray with box colorers, go for the salon. They use a stronger bleach then what you get in the boxes, so can get rid of gray easier.
There's nothing wrong with getting it done at the salon. Just use a cheap one, like cost cuts or some cheap chain.
In a salon setting it is alot base3d on the lenght of your hair and how much product that it takes to color your hair. I have long hair that is grey ( wisdom Hairs) however I used to use the store stuf but like you say it don't last long , however with the salon product I only have to go to the salon every 5 weeks..cost $100.00 but it is worth it..
Most color that you buy at the stores are Red black, or Blue black based and most of the time I end up with ELVIS BLACK HAIR... So then it cost you even more to go to a salon and get it fixed.. So just go to the salon and plan on spending at least $100 it could cost a lot less..
I think the main differences are that the salon's dye is usually of a higher quality. They mix it themselves. Also, they know what they are doing, they can see you're full head of hair and know how to colour it.
If you're going all one colour, i'd say do it yourself, i'd only recommend paying lots of you are going for a drastic change (brown to blonde etc..)
The results will be just as good!

It is worth it to get it done in a salon. It's not just the quality of the hair tint that matters. Hair dressers know more about the hair then any one else. You can trust me. I am studying to be a hairdresser, and one strand of hair has soo many layers... and, greys are stubborn to colour. This is why it's good to go into a salon, because a hairdresser can examine your hair and give a consultation, and see what kind of colours she needs to mix, and how strong the peroxide be, so get the colour you want, but to also cover your greys. The products you buy at the shops probably don't last as lond because they are not permanent colours. Read the labels carefully. There are 4 types of hair colours. Temporary, Semi-Permanent, Quasi-Permanent, and Permanent. Out of these 4 types of colours, it's the Permanent that WILL NOT wash out of your hair. The rest will fade and wash out by each wash. Go to a hairdressing salon and talk to them about it. Most salons should give free consultations and just see what they think of your hair. It is also good to be seen by a professional, because you don't always get the colour you want with a tint you get at the shop yourself.
Hope I helped ^_*
