I have naturally long, rich dark brown hair. almost black. Last summer I got tons of lighter brown and blonde highlights that made my hair a totally different shade of brown and I liked it but I dyed it back to my natural because of roots and stuff. Anyway, I'm italian so I tan pretty well, so I was just wondering what color do you think looks best in the summer time with a tan? Should i go back to highlights or stick with my natural color? What hair color looks best in the summer with a good tan?
I think tanned people who are naturally dark to begin with like Italians don't look good with blonde highlights. I would stick to your natural color or maybe a shade lighter but not in the blonde zone - that would look bad but maybe you pulled it off and it looks good on you. What hair color looks best in the summer with a good tan?
Blonde or black
It's gotta be one of the extremes

high lights in your dark brown hair would look very nice. winter, spring, summer and fall.
auburn
im italian too ....and tan i have dark strait brown hair and i think that looks best with tans
blond and tan is a hot combo
I love dark brown hair, and if you have dark skin with a tan, I wouldn't want go too light with the hair because it might look a little unnatural. For the summer you could try some highlights like you did last summer, since you said you liked it. You could keep re-colouring your hair with highlights as much as you want, and then colour your hair back to natural when your tan fades. It doesn't really matter if you decide to highlight or not; I'm sure you'll great either way.
