What is the best shelf blond hair color for already blond hair?

I have blond hair (a darker blond) and I want to lighten it up. Everytime I try I end up with this blondish/reddish/orange crap. I really hate spending all that money at a salon to lighten my already blonde hair and would love a way to do it at home. Any suggestions? What is the best shelf blond hair color for already blond hair?
If I were you I would just use a highlighting kit at home.

or

you can use the clairol natural instincts colors, they do a really good job.The color ';sahara'; is the one I always use for my natural blonde hair.

DO NOT use an ash color. Its going to turn it a grey-ish unatractive color.

believe me, i've tried.lol

if you're really unsure, go to the drug store like Shoppers Drug mart..and ask the beauty person for help. What is the best shelf blond hair color for already blond hair?
you need an ash color, and it needs to be permanent. try Garnier 100% color in 101 *light ash blonde* or XL-1 *light beige Blonde*. they wont be ashy when you use them, as your hair gets warmer when you lighten it, so the ash will kill off the orange and leave you pretty neutral. another good one is loreal preference 19 *light ash blonde*. if you already have color in there, it'll be tricky and theres no way to predict the results, the only this is to shoot blindly, or go pro. with these colors *preference - 19 being the best choice i think* you should be pretty safe.
You should get an at-home highlighting kit. It won't brighten your whole head, so you won't get the funky-colored outcome. Just find a friend that you trust and go for it. You can make as little or as many highlights as you want. Otherwise, if there's a beauty school in your area, they'll color it for about half the price that a salon or spa would charge.
um make it a soft light blond
