Hair Color Advice Needed!?

Can anyone with hair colouring experience help me out?

My dilemma:

I'm originally dark brunette. I figured I would try black hair colour last year so I purchased a box of black haircolour (temporary). Being naive, I figured it would wash out eventually. But, it didn't!

Black hair was okay on me during the summer when I had a tan but when winter came along, and I lost my tan, I wanted my brown hair back. Since it had not washed out, I tried to re-dye it brown, but of course all that seemed to do was lock the black colour in more. So then I had lighter roots and the rest was still black!

I would consider having the colour stripped at a salon but my hair is not in a healthy state for that. If I cut the black out, I'll have short hair, and I really do not want that!

Help me! Is there really nothing I can do?

i've worked at a salon as a hair color specialist, and im going to be honest with you there is no way your going to get that black out of your hair unless you get it stripped at a salon or cut it off, now if your willing to get it stripped at a salon i would recommend to start using a deep conditioning treatment for the hair for two weeks before going to the salon, and make sure to buy a good pricey brand, because trust me you get what you pay for, and once you have gone to the salon keep using the hair treatment to keep your hair in good condition, and i would also suggest going to upscale hair salon where it is deparmentalized, as in the people that work there specialize in doing hair color or hair cutting, because they will be better suited to do the process of hair stripping,

black is the hardest to remove. You can get to a med. brown shade in one visit to the salon. I do not suggest trying to go lighter than than in one visit.

Also, you can purchase a Clarifying Shampoo (dont use this on colored hair tho unless you want your color to fade) to help remove some of the color. The stylist should have no problem lifting you 3-4 levels and removing the black.
